Ken Lay is the President and Founder of Perspective Always Matters LLC, and Managing Partner with The Center For Resilience.

Building on a corporate career as a global executive leader for Fortune 50 companies, Ken draws on his multidisciplinary expertise to provide executive coaching and resilience training for individuals, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. As a seasoned executive coach, Ken has experience working with C-suite executives and emerging leaders in finance, health, public accounting, government, and non-profit industries. Ken has a strong background in organizational change and in helping leaders navigate complex challenges to drive personal and organizational growth. Ken is a certified coach through the Center for Executive Coaching and is also ICF certified. 

Prior to establishing Perspective Always Matters LLC, Ken was EVP / Chief of Staff for Citizens Business Services, and EVP / CIO for Citizens Commercial Bank. Previously, he held senior executive positions at Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and IBM where he transformed corporate cultures and implemented breakthrough technologies while achieving significant financial results.

Amid the 2009-10 fiscal crisis, Ken served as the Secretary of Revenue for North Carolina. During his term, Ken and his team created the first NC state government “public/private partnership” for a new “benefits-funded” IT tax collection system. This initiative achieved four times its projected revenue. As a result, the Department of Revenue was recognized as one of the nation’s top three state revenue agencies for innovation and results.

For more than 30 years, Ken has served on numerous boards including those for Philanthropic and Community Activities, Educational Organizations, and State/Local Government Entities. 

Ken earned an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BBA from the University of Notre Dame. 

A native New Yorker, Ken and his wife now reside in northern Florida. Ken is an active member of his community and an avid cyclist.
